Citizens are invited to share their perspectives on trails and trail planning during the first of many public listening sessions at the Milton Trails Advisory Committee’s upcoming meeting.

The City has received considerable public input about trails from people representing a wide range of viewpoints. Recognizing the importance of trails and trail planning to the community, the Aug. 27 session will be the first of many listening sessions. Residents and other stakeholders will have continued opportunities to share constructive feedback directly with the committee and City staff.

The meeting will begin with a brief status update on where the City currently stands in its broader work related to trails.

The majority of the meeting will be dedicated to listening. Members of the public will be invited to share their thoughts, concerns, priorities, and experiences related to trails. The City and committee hope to hear from a broad and diverse group of speakers, including people with different perspectives. To allow as many people as possible to participate, comments may be time-limited depending on attendance.

The listening session is not intended to be a formal question-and-answer period or a debate. The primary goal is for committee members and City staff to listen carefully and better understand the range of opinions within the community.

The meeting may conclude with brief reflections from committee members about the general form that the continued planning and public input process could take. The purpose will not be to establish a specific plan or make final decisions that evening, but to further an inclusive, ongoing community conversation about the path forward.
