Milton’s Design Review Board will meet Tuesday evening to conduct a pair of courtesy reviews – one related to a proposed garage addition in Crabapple, the other for a just over 1,600-square foot event space by the Alpharetta line.

Consisting of seven individuals appointed by Milton’s Mayor and Councilmembers, the Design Review Board votes on demolition requests as well as makes recommendations to the City’s Community Development Director about new site development, new construction, and certain alterations to existing structures. The DRB, as this committee is known, is also part of Milton’s public meeting process – which means other boards may consider some of the same items.

Two courtesy reviews along those lines will take place on Tuesday. The first pertains to 115 Cannongate Court, a 2.3-acre property in the Kensington Farms neighborhood in Milton’s Crabapple area. The owner is requesting a variance to reduce the 60-foot minimum front yard frontage to 48.8 feet to accommodate expanding an existing garage from two to three bays.

The other Courtesy Review on the agenda relates to 631 North Main Street, which is in a commercial plaza near the Alpharetta border.

The applicant is seeking a Use Permit for an “Event Facility” for 1,625 square feet of space. It is part of an existing two-story, 38,000-square feet commercial building in an an area covered by the Deerfield Form-Based Code. If the permit is ultimately granted, this indoor space (in a suite near the middle of this building) may host gatherings such as corporate meetings, banquets, community get-togethers, and other private events for up to 90 people at a time.

After Tuesday’s meeting, the Design Review Board is next scheduled to convene on October 6.
