This project begins at the existing roundabout at the intersection of Morris Road and Webb Road/Deerfield Avenue, then runs to the northeast along Morris Road to where it ties into the McGinnis Ferry Road widening project slightly east of Bethany Bend. It builds off the 2016 Milton Comprehensive Transportation Plan, parts of which addressed the McGinnis Ferry interchange at GA 400 and recommended widening Morris Road.

Transportation Special Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax, or TSPLOST, money would pay for this work. Improving the capacity and flow along Morris Road was determined to be a top-tier project for TSPLOST funds after voters approved that transportation-focused tax in November 2016.

The proposal under consideration calls for two lanes of Morris Road in each direction divided by a landscaped or concrete median. Turn lanes, a multi-use trail and upgrades at the Morris/Webb roads' intersection are also part of the plan.

In fall 2019, Wolverton -- a consultant contracted with the City of Milton -- released a "concept scoping study" that laid out cost estimates, looked at additional funding opportunities and stressed coordination with parties (specifically Forsyth County Georgia Government and the Georgia Department of Transportation) involved in the McGinnis Ferry/400 interchange project. That "scoping study" included a Traffic Engineering Report, an Ecological Resource Screening, and a Draft Concept Layout.

This was followed, in September 2020, by Pond and Company's starting work for the City on preliminary engineering services. Before creating a final proposed layout, though, Pond and Company wants to hear from those who live, work and otherwise visit this impacted area.

If all goes to plan, Pond and Company will complete the concept layout and begin preliminary design for this project in early 2021.
