• Who is my City Council representative?

  Milton is served by six council members and a mayor elected every four years. Click here to find out who represents you.

• When and where are City Council meetings?

  City Council meetings take place at 6 p.m. the first and third Mondays of the month, barring at holiday, in City Council Chambers, which are in 2006 Heritage Walk.

  City Council also holds work sessions the second Monday of the month at the same time and place. Please check the city calendar for a full list of city-sponsored meetings and events.

  Any change in regularly scheduled council meetings or special called council meetings will be published in the Milton Herald and on the city calendar.

• How can I see what will be discussed at a meeting?

  Full agendas of every City Council, board, and commission meeting are posted online on the Agendas and Minutes webpage -- which you can access at https://www.miltonga.gov/government/city-clerk/agendas-and-minutes/.

  Agendas are posted well ahead of each meetings to inform citizens about items up for discussion.

  Please note: Items in First Presentation or the Consent Agenda of City Council meetings generally are not discussed. Only items in New Business, Unfinished Business, Public Hearing or the Zoning Agenda will be discussed and up for public comment. First Presentation items are there for procedural purposes. (Reports and Presentation items don't have public comments directly attached to them, though can speak under general Public Comment near the start of a meeting.)

• Can I speak with or to City Council members?

  You are always welcome to call and/or e-mail your City Council representative anytime. If you would like to speak at a City Council meeting, there is general public comment at the start of each meeting and comment times for topics germane to an issue heard that night.

  When you attend the meeting in person, you must fill out a public comment card and submit it to the City Clerk prior to the agenda item to be heard. Speakers will be heard in the order their cards are received.

  Please note: If you wish to speak against a rezoning, you must by state law disclose whether you have given more than $250 in campaign contributions to any sitting council member. Failure to do so could result in a misdemeanor charge.

  No outbursts, cheering or booing are allowed in City Hall's Council Chambers. Please show the same respect to those speaking you would expect to receive.

• How are City Council members elected?

  City Council members are elected every four years and serve in staggered terms. They are elected and serve at large (the entire city); however, they must live in the district they represent. The Mayor can live in any district.

• How do I make an appointment with the Mayor?

  You may make an appointment with the Mayor by contacting Susan Wilmath, Executive Aide, at 678-242-2521.

• What should I do if I see an abandoned or foreclosed building within city limits?

  Any abandoned or foreclosed buildings should be reported to Code Enforcement using our Violations form.
