Page 129_Communications_Option 1The City of Milton’s Communications Department informs, connects and builds community, using a diverse, impactful array of strategies, tools and events. The Department strives every day to be responsive, transparent and service-oriented – realizing that having an educated, engaged citizenry makes Milton better and stronger.

Communications and Engagement maintains the City’s official social media channels – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Flickr – as well as its website. Staff members disseminate information through press releases, newsletters and official reports typically produced in partnership with other City government leaders.

The Department also serves as the first point-of-contact for media inquiries and messages (sent by email or social media) from individuals, in addition to Communications.computer.cameracommunicating with larger groups of stakeholders on projects. Communications also coordinates the production of City of Milton promotional and educational materials, both printed and online.

Internally, Communications and Engagement works to ensure all City employees, as well as elected officials, understand what is happening in Milton and why it matters. Regular communications help them become even more effective ambassadors while engaging with Milton's citizens.

Additionally, the Department of Communications and Engagement plans and executes City-sponsored events ranging from smaller community gatherings, to large festivals, holiday events, celebrations, and community programs, such as the Citizens Government Academy and oversees the Summer Internship Program.

Many of Milton's special events are delivered in partnership with area businesses, local non-profit organizations and community groups. These events are made possible through revenue collected as part of the local Hotel-Motel Tax and, in-part, by the generosity of sponsors. These special events unite and create a sense of community and belonging in Milton.

Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year. Please reach out to the Department's Special Events Coordinators and Community Outreach Manager for further information.
