The City welcomes visitors to enjoy our parks and facilities, while urging them to follow certain rules and regulations so that others can enjoy them, just as well, for years to come.

Some of that is spelled out in Chapter 34 of Milton's City Code. You can access that by CLICKING HERE. This touches on numerous topics such as permitted park activities and prohibited acts.

Below is a list of other rules and regulations for Milton parks and facilities some of which may overlap with Chapter 34.

PARK/FACILITY REGULATIONS

  1. Park rules are enforced by City staff and public safety officers. Violators may be subject to fines, removal from the park, or other penalties under City Code. 
  2. Parks are open from sunrise to sunset, unless otherwise posted or approved by permit. 
  3. All pets must be leashed at all times. Owners must clean up after their pets and dispose of waste properly. 
  4. Other than service animals, it is against park regulations for any individual who possesses or is in charge of a domestic animal, restrained or unrestrained, to bring the animal onto any athletic field. 
  5. No smoking, vaping, or use of tobacco products anywhere on park property, including trails and parking areas. 
  6. No alcohol or illegal drugs. 
  7. Lackey_creek.running.near.trail.SMALLAlcohol is permitted during rentals or special events, with a City-issued alcohol permit. 
  8. Firearms and weapons are prohibited, except as permitted under Georgia state law (e.g., valid concealed carry permit). 
  9. Stay on designated trails and pathways.
  10. Bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, hover boards, etc. are only allowed in designated areas. Use on walkways is prohibited to ensure pedestrian safety. 
  11. No motorized vehicles off designated roads or parking areas. 
  12. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones is prohibited at all parks within the City. 
  13. Commercial use of parks & their respective facilities (filming, classes, photography sessions, etc.) must be approved by the Department Director or his/her designee in advance.
  14. No person or organization shall solicit, advertise, promote, sell, or offer for sale any goods, merchandise, food, beverages, services, or other items within any City park without prior written approval from the Parks and Recreation Director or his/her designee. 
  15. Athletic fields, courts, and pavilions may require reservations. Permits take priority over drop-in use.
  16. Group gatherings, organized activities, and special events may require a facility reservation or permit.
  17. Amplified sound or music must align with the City’s noise ordinance or be approved by the City. 
  18. Disorderly, disruptive, threatening, or harassing behavior is prohibited and may Baseball Practiceresult in removal from the premises. 
  19. Littering is prohibited. Use designated trash and recycling receptacles. 
  20. Defacing, damaging, or destroying park property, signage, equipment, or natural features is strictly prohibited. Individuals responsible for vandalism may be subject to removal, fines, or legal action. 
  21. No fireworks or open flames unless permitted by the City. 
  22. Do not disturb plants, wildlife, or natural features. 
  23. Do not hang or attach items to trees or park structures using nails, screws, staples, tape, or any method that may damage surfaces or trees.
  24. For parks with synthetic artificial turf fields:  
    • No pets of any kind
    • No food or beverages including gum, seeds, nuts, sports drinks, or soft drinks -- with the exception of plain water, which is the only allowable drink.
    • No glass containers
    • No smoking or tobacco products of any kind
    • No playing golf
    • No tent stakes, spikes, etc. that may driven into the turf
    • No metal or detachable cleats; only sneakers or molded plastic cleats are allowed
    • No painting, chalking, or marking fields
    • No grills, fireworks, or fires of any kid
    • Do not pick or pull grass fibers or infill material
    • Goals may be moved, but they are to be LIFTED as needed, NOT DRAGGED
    • Do not throw, kick, hit, or whip a ball into surrounding fences
