Print out the form and either:

1) Bring it to Milton City Hall, specifically to the Finance window, with the required $15 payment. You then can go home with your registration sticker.

After the form is processed, a registration sticker can be mailed to your desired address.

About 5 years. If someone applies before June 1, 2025, for instance, the registration is good through June 1, 2029. On June 2, 2025, the new expiration is June 1, 2030. And so on.

"Right of Way" refers to publicly owned and maintained areas for access, such as roads and easements.

A Capital Project is a non-recurring expenditure or any expenditure for physical improvements, including costs for: construction of new buildings or other structures, including additions and major alterations; construction and major repair of streets including resurfacing; acquisition of fixed equipment; landscaping; and similar expenditures. A Capital Improvement Project includes preconstruction activities and follows a detailed project development process.  

The Georgia Department of Driver Services and Milton Police Department set which vehicles are street-legal. Bicycles and runners/walkers have a few options. For more information, check out the GA Bike Sense Manual. Farm equipment is allowed for short trips; horses are preferred on marked trails during daylight hours (see Milton's Code Sec. 48-587). Golf carts are subject to Ordinance No. 20-06-424 Authorizing the Conditional Operation of Personal Transportation Vehicles on Designated City Streets.

Milton:

• Non-state route pavement, grading unpaved roads, replacing gravel on gravel roads
• Curbs and gutters, sidewalks within the right-of-way
• Signals, striping, road signage
• Clear zone and sight triangle tree maintenance (drivers need unobstructed horizontal and vertical views within what is called the sight distance triangle to be able to see oncoming traffic from any direction)
• City limit signs
• Responding to any traffic signal that is out
• Communicating with Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) District 7 maintenance crews
• Enforcing Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices traffic control rules
• Driveway pans (connection to the main road for paved roads), roadside ditches

GDOT:

• Planning and construction of state routes 
• Maintaining state route (only Ga. 372, Ga. 9, and Ga. 140) pavement, curbs and gutters, sidewalks within the right-of-way
• Signals, striping, road signage on state routes

You:

• Items on your property (generally not in the right of way), including mailbox, driveway, masonry driveway entrance pillars/gate, home/business, parking lot, pool, tennis courts/other recreation items, fences, walls and additional sidewalks
• Keeping bushes/trees where you can safely enter/exit your driveway
• Mow the right-of-way in front of your property
• Trim bushes/trees from street signs on your property (i.e. stop signs)
• Wash street sign on your property (twice annually with water and paper towel to maintain reflectivity)
• Adhere to the speed limit
• Stop for pedestrians
• Curb your dog
• Be involved in your HOA
