Who can participate?
What does the program do?
The purpose of the AAR Program is to educate and inspire the community, and foster environmental stewardship through litter cleanup and roadway beautification. Reducing the amount of debris in the environment helps keep our storm drains clear and protects our local waterways.
The city’s AAR Program is patterned after the Georgia Department of Transportation Adopt a Highway Program. Since Georgia’s program focuses solely on state roadsides and highways, cities throughout the state have set up similar programs that concentrate on roadways that are located within their city limits.
This program creates a partnership of citizens and local government to:
▪ Reduce trash and litter along city roadways, and
▪ Protect Milton’s beautiful creeks, streams and lakes; roadside litter that is washed into a storm drain eventually travels to a nearby body of water.
The benefits of participating in the AAR Program are numerous. They include but are not limited to the following:
▪ Promotes civic responsibility and pride
▪ Develops environmental responsibility awareness
▪ Preserves habitats
▪ Raises public awareness
